On Monday, Matt Rybaltowski of Sports Handle reported that an unnamed Colts player was under investigation for what a source called ‘pervasive‘ sports wagering activities.
After several hours of conjecture yesterday over who the culprit might be, the player in question appeared to be revealed by Colts reporter Destin Adams Monday evening.
Per Adams, cornerback Isaiah Rodgers Sr. is under investigation for multiple gambling infractions.
Rodgers, a sixth-round pick of the Colts in the 2020 NFL Draft, addressed the ongoing situation on Twitter last night via a statement.
“Addressing the current reports, I want to take full responsibility for my actions,” Rodgers said. ” I made an error in judgment and I am going to work hard to make sure that those mistakes are rectified through this process. It’s an honor to play in the NFL and I have never taken that lightly. I am very sorry for all of this.”
Rodgers has appeared in 45 games since being drafted in 2020 and started 9 games for the Colts this past season.
We’ll keep an eye out for an announcement about a disciplinary decision on Rodgers.
